Local WoodmenLife Chapter Helps Finish Hurricane Repairs

Donation of American Flag and Flag Pole Repair Completes Irma Recovery

First Coast No More Homeless Pets (FCNMHP) will proudly fly the American flag again in front of its Norwood Avenue Clinic thanks to the generosity from the WoodmenLife Jacksonville chapter 899. WoodmenLife is a longtime supporter of the group’s mission to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, the FCNMHP Norwood Avenue location suffered substantial damage to the roof and other parts of the building.

FCNMHP Founder and CEO, Rick DuCharme and board member Tom Moilanen raise the American flag for the first time since Hurricane Irma.

“We had just finished the roof repair when board member Tom Moilanen realized there was one more major repair needed, our damaged flag pole,” Founder and CEO Rick DuCharme said. “In the aftermath of the storm we didn’t miss a moment serving our community, but now we feel complete with our flag flying proudly again.”

Members of WoodmenLife Chapter 899 celebrate the raising of the flag.
