The Youth Crisis Center is celebrating 45 years of championing families with a blowout Birthday Bowling Bash. Join the celebration on Sunday, Oct. 27, 4 – 6 p.m. at Main Event Entertainment, 10370 Philips Hwy in Jacksonville. The community and companies are encouraged to gather their teams and get ready to rack up an evening of strikes, splits and smiles. Bond with the family, connect with co-workers or celebrate with your friends while raising money for a worthy cause.
NBC’s First Coast Living co-host and former Jacksonville Jaguars mascot Jaxon De Ville, aka Curtis Dvorak, will serve as honorary chairman. Dvorak is best known for his high energy and physical humor and says he is excited to be able to use his talents to support this important cause.
“I’m excited to be a part of an event to support YCC because of the vital role they play in helping so many young people overcome incredible challenges in our community. My mom always taught me the importance of helping others,” Dvorak said. “She taught me the significance of organizations like this and even though I don’t have her around anymore, I can still make her proud by doing my part!”
The Youth Crisis Center was established as Florida’s first runaway program in 1974 and has continued to grow into one of the largest and best-known providers of services for youth and families. YCC provides a multitude of services, ranging from short term crisis care, mental health counseling, skills-based group training and transitional living programs for children, teens, young adults and families in need. Their mission is to build a healthier community by empowering youth and families to rise above adversity.
“I am so excited to be sharing in the celebration of YCC’s 45th year of serving families in our community. I have seen the agency’s growth during my 20-year career at YCC and am proud of the work YCC’s caring and committed team does to help strengthen so many families in Northeast Florida,” said Kim Sirdevan, president and CEO of Youth Crisis Center. In 2018 alone, the Youth Crisis Center served a total of 2,118 children, teens, young adults and families. Nationally recognized as setting a standard in youth services, YCC has been ranked as one of the top five programs in the United States by the Youth Policy Institute in Washington DC.
