Themed Mission: Impossible, the Florida Small Business Development Corporation (FSBDC) at the University of North Florida held its 8th annual Nonprofit Conference Oct. 5. Following breakfast, UNF President Emeritus John A. Delaney gave the keynote speech. As UNF’s fifth president, Delaney served from 2003 until 2017. In 2018 he joined The Fiorentino Group at Rogers Towers P.A.
Following Delaney’s presentation, attendees at the conference from Northeast Florida’s nonprofit sector received valuable information from four presenters.
Mindy Barker, CPA, of Barker Associates, spoke on “using your head to serve from the heart,” providing insight into the techniques used by nonprofit leaders raise money for their organizations. Barker was followed by Angela Insalaco, Strategic Tactics Consulting Group, on how to turn board members and volunteers into brand ambassadors, and how to use Corporate Social Responsibility programs to find corporate partners.
Prior to the lunch break, participants learned how to create compelling storytelling for the ultimate nonprofit brand experience from Bernadette Rivell Daniels of Identity Brand + Design. After lunch, FSBDC’s Blake Stockton shared tips on how to build donor trust with Google My Business.
On display at the conference were copies of CIRCLES Charity Register and Social Datebook 2017-2018, reminding the audience that time is running out to commit to ad space, provide information for next year’s fundraising events and update listings in the register.
