Family Support Services of North Florida (FSSNF) and various child service providers throughout the state have spent February recognizing foster families and caregivers. To honor these families, FSS hosted a Caregiver Picnic and Appreciation Extravaganza on Feb. 23. The event offered fun activities for the whole family including karaoke, a bounce house, lunch, an ice cream truck and other games.
“Our caregivers are the foundation of our organization. These individuals volunteer to nurture our most vulnerable population by giving love, support and security to children and teens who need it most,” said Bob Miller, CEO of Family Support Services. “Our caregivers and families inspire joy, healing and even help encourage stronger bonds with children and their biological families. We remain grateful to those who have opened their hearts and homes to our children, especially since there is such a vital need for foster parents throughout Florida.”
FSS serves the Duval County community as a local resource center for child protection and family preservation services by partnering with other area social service agencies, such as Children’s Home Society, Micah’s Place, and Jewish Family and Community Services.
