Dreams Come True (DCT) of Jacksonville and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty (BHHSFNR) recently surprised 19-year-old cancer survivor, Isabelle Scott, with a Lyon & Healy 23 gold harp.

Scott was invited to play a musical piece for the realtors and employees of BHHSFNR during the Northeast Florida real estate firm’s award ceremony, which took place at the University of North Florida Adam W. Herbert University Center. Following her performance, Scott gave an inspiring speech about her love for music and her dream to be a professional harpist.

Dreams Come True of Jacksonville and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty recently surprised 19-year-old cancer survivor, Isabelle Scott, with a Lyon & Healy 23 gold harp.

At the conclusion of her speech, representatives from DCT and BHHSFNR surprised Isabelle on stage with her new harp.

“We were touched by Isabelle’s story and we are thrilled to make her dream of a Lyon & Healy 23 harp come true,” said BHHSFNR President and CEO Christy Budnick, who serves as vice president on the Dreams Come True Board of Directors. “The Dreamers (the children served by Dreams Come True) and their families are so brave and inspiring, and we are honored to support this incredible organization and its mission of making dreams comes true.”

“Dreams Come True has been and continues to be very close to our hearts, and we are deeply committed to supporting this wonderful organization,” said BHHSFNR Founder and Chairman Linda Sherrer. “We truly appreciate the support we receive from our valued customers and our passionate team to help make dreams come true for many deserving local children.”

Scott was referred to DCT following her diagnosis in January 2018 with acute myeloid leukemia. Scott was in the middle of musical school auditions at the time, which were postponed during her chemotherapy treatments at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. Following her referral to Dreams Come True, Scott was quick to respond with her dream request:

“My dream would be to have a good harp of my own that I could use to advance my goals of continuing my studies in harp and becoming a professional harpist and teacher. I have been learning on a very antique harp that has been rented for me by my parents, but it is aging and is not mine.”

“It has been an honor for us to be a part of Isabelle’s medical journey and surprise her today with her own Lyon & Healy 23 harp,” said Dreams Come True Executive Director Sheri Criswell. “Isabelle has so eloquently reminded us that there truly is power in the ability to dream during life’s greatest struggles. Our ability to deliver the power of a dream fulfilled is only possible through the generosity of our community partners like Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty. We are truly grateful to everyone at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Network Realty for helping us make Isabelle’s dream a reality.”

Scott is currently in remission and was accepted to Converse College in South Carolina. She will begin her first class on Feb. 4, 2019. Scott is the 28th dream child since 2014 sponsored by BHHSFNR.
