To meet the needs of children being served in its shelter and Outreach Center on Beach Blvd, Hubbard House will accept donations of new backpacks and school supplies from the community from mid-July to mid-August.
“The backpacks and supplies donated to Hubbard House children provide for their practical educational needs and are a treat, too,” explained Hubbard House CEO Gail Patin. “The children who receive them start school feeling more positive and prepared, which is especially important in a time of transition.”
A list of needed items can be found on the Hubbard House website, linked here. Members of the community are welcome to donate personally or to host donation drives. To schedule a convenient time to drop off supplies, donors should contact Hubbard House at [email protected] or (904) 354-3114 extension 281.
Last fiscal year, nearly half of the residents of Hubbard House’s emergency shelter were children, the sons and daughters of victims of domestic violence. In total, 446 children were served through the emergency shelter and Outreach Center. The school supplies generated during the back-to-school season are used to meet student needs all year.
Hubbard House is a full-service certified domestic violence center providing prevention and intervention to domestic violence survivors and their families in Duval and Baker counties in Northeast Florida.
