Greenscape of Jacksonville, Inc. announced the co-chairs for its annual Root Ball: Tiffany Davis, Sally Ragsdale and Debbie Early. Davis, a San Marco resident, is a Greenscape board member. Ragsdale and Early, Ortega residents, are members of Late Bloomers Garden Club, which co-hosts the event.
This is the 16th year the two groups have combined to host The Root Ball, which will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. at The Garden Club of Jacksonville. “Ante Up for Derby Day” is the theme for this Kentucky Derby watch party, which will feature casino games, frosty mint juleps, a bourbon bar, and a Derby-inspired buffet. A silent auction and a hat and bowtie contest round out the festivities.
The community is invited to join the party for “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports,” proceeds of which stay 100% in the local economy. Greenscape, the oldest nonprofit tree advocacy group in Florida, plants trees to improve Jacksonville neighborhoods, parks and schools. The Late Bloomers fund civic improvement projects in the River City. Tickets may be purchased, or donations made, at greenscapeofjax.org/events.
