Seniors at Florida Christian Center need help raising funds for an "almost new" 14-passenger bus.

As the nation enters the “giving” season, seniors at the Florida Christian Center, 1115 Edgewood Avenue S., are hoping residents will help them reach a goal to purchase an “almost new” 14-passenger bus. More than 300 seniors rely on the bus to get them to the grocery store and to Walmart for food and prescriptions, to the malls for Christmas shopping, to events in the city, such as Riverside Arts Market, a concert in the park or the City of Jacksonville’s holiday party for seniors.

Just under $10,000 away from their goal, they are asking for donations now and on Giving Tuesday, Nov. 28. “As we enter this giving season, we are thankful to all of you who have come to and supported the activities and ministry of the Florida Christian Center,” said Kimberly Weir, chaplain and executive director of the center.
